    Fluted cutting surfaces are designed to facilitate the removal of bone chips from the bur hole during perforation.

The cammed action responds to a sudden drop in bone resistance, allowing the inner drill to shift forward by less than 1 mm, disengaging the clutch and immediately stopping further cutting.
